Student in the Spotlight: Jackie Odien

This week's Student in the Spotlight is...

Jackie Odien!

    Jackie Odien is a senior at EMU majoring in Theatre Arts and minoring in Entertainment Design and Technology. She has worked on Guys and Dolls (set crew), The Merchant of Venice (assistant stage manager), Urinetown the musical (assistant stage manager), Honk! (stage manager), Fiddler on the Roof (stage manager), and To Kill A Mockingbird (stage manager). Fiddler on the Roof was her favorite show that she has worked on at EMU. Jackie will also be stage managing our fall production of Tintypes!

       When asked what her favorite memory of EMU Theatre was she replied, "When Emily-Ann told me what I wanted to do with my life. It was during Guys and Dolls and there was a bunch of us in a big group circle. She said something to the effect of, “You’re gonna do what you want to do with your life. So you might as well do it right now.” And then the next day half of the group, myself included, changed our majors. She is my inspiration to be a stage manager today." After graduation she plans on moving to Chicago to start building a name for herself. Later on she wants to stage manage big musicals in New York City!
